White City
- 45 acres brownfield land with complex infrastructure
- Major retail-led urban regeneration project
- London’s most important new retail scheme - 2m sq ft
White City is a classic brownfield urban regeneration project. Forty five acres of contaminated and industrial land were assembled through negotiation with London Underground Property and many other land owners.
Chelsfield secured planning consent for a sustainable new generation regional shopping centre of 2m sqft with large internal public spaces, a street pattern that enhanced local connectivity and a natural environment.
The investment in infrastructure is considerable including the provision of a new London Underground depot, a new tube, a new railway station, and enhancement of the Shepherd's Bush tube station, and a new bus station.
Work commenced on site in 2004 before the project was handed over to Westfield for final delivery.
