Royal Opera House
- An extremely challenging high profile, lottery funded cultural project
- Community liason groups created to include all stakeholders
- Architects – Edward Barry (1858) and Dixon Jones BDP (2000)
The re-development of the Royal Opera House was completed in 2000 to critical acclaim. The scheme carefully restored the auditorium and crush bar, improved access for technicians, increased the amount of productions from 260 to 320 a year and created a world-class opera venue.
After five planning applications, the House redevelopment chaired by Stuart Lipton was successfully completed, funded substantially by the creation of retail units on the piazza.
