- Comprises Stables Market and Camden Lock Village
- Enhancing the market, and creating a business and night time destination
With over 800 traders, Camden market has a reputation as a centre for cutting-edge fashion and is renowned as a hub for mixed media, art and design.
Canal Lock Market reopened after a devastating fire in February 2008. Over 250 market units were quickly reinstated and are now trading within a greatly improved area.
London Borough of Camden have approved a framework development brief for Canal Lock, and MAKE Architects are designing a mixed-use development. This will comprise market retail, residential, leisure space and workshops.
Stables Market comprises 19th century stables, workshops and warehouses. First developed in 1854, it represents the finest remaining example of industrial stabling in England.
It is an eclectic mix of boutiques where entrepreneurial designers trade alongside ‘vintage’ and retro fashion boutiques, restaurants and music venues.
Music venues and nightclubs are long synonymous with Camden, from the Rolling Stones to Amy Winehouse. ‘Zulu’ nightclub will be opened shortly to complement Alex Proud’s Nightclub and Gallery Bar, whilst Gilgamesh restaurant serving ‘Fusion’ foods will soon be joined by Coco Pazzo, an Italian themed restaurant.
